We hate to do it, but in order to help prevent future exploits of our website, we have turned off the ability to leave immediate comments (people hardly ever commented anyway). We will still post comments that we recieve.

Appears we were hacked!

Our apologies, but it appears that our website was exploited i.e. hacked in the last 2-3 weeks. We hope no one was seriously infected. We're not sure what the virus was, but it has been removed. This virus caused some problems in updating our blogs - we had wondered why we couldn't update our blogs. Moral of the story is that it is worth investigating why things appear to be running slow sometimes!

So much to do, so little time

To much to do, with too little time. Lots to write about - many thanks to those of you who voted us in as the "Best Place to Meet The Proprietors" in the Seattle Weekly Best of readers poll (you fools!).

We'll write more soon, in the meantime get your No Drickels sign (Drago or Nickels, who are both running for Seattle mayor, and neither of whom we want to see make it past the primary).

Be seeing you!

New website launched!

We are very pleased to be just about done with a web redesign - about time! Our site has been LONG overdue for some major changes. You'll note a new navigation bar, more clues about our name sprinkled throughout, and some updated daily information and games. Many thanks to The Free Dictionary for the cool content. Hope you like what you find, please contact us with your feedback and suggestions. And yes we know we need to get more items online. That is one of our next big challenges. If you have certain items that you want to see online let us know. Thanks for visiting!

Mayor visits Not A Number
Not A Number was very pleased to be visited by Seattle Mayor Grg Nickels today. He was doing a walking tour of the neighborhood, and we were very pleased to be one of the places he stopped in. Not much time was spent here, but we did get some photos, which will soon be posted.

Ed was great listen for him on the radio

It was really great to hang out with Ed Begly Jr. last night. He had a lot of environmental information to share. While he was in the store he did a radio interview for Kiro , and we hope to set him up for an interview today on Komo1000. So be sure to listen for him today. Thanks again to Ed for coming and hanging out with us.  Signed copies of his book are still available.

Have a use for a black light booth?

Recently we've been collecting stuff from Science Art and More, which is closing. We're sad to see them close, they were a great resource for scientific stuff. They had a number of fixtures and stuff which we've aquired, the coolest item being a black light booth. So look for some upcoming displays with black lights! If you have any great ideas on what to do with a black light booth, let us know !

END OF AN ERROR!
We are very pleased to see a transition to a new President! I think we speak for a majority of Americans when we wish Obama all the best, and look forward to a new tone for the country.

Odd visitor - was it really Condi's brother
The other day, a well dressed gentleman came in, and bought a bunch of stuff for his mother's inauguration day party (so he claimed). After a little bit of discussion, he said that he was Condeliza Rice's brother, and he proceeded to show us a picture of himself with Condi at what he said was her 50th birthday party. Fair enough, even though it was noted that when he showed his ID with his credit card (a US passport), that his name was something Irish/Scottish sounding like Stewart or Bailey (I really don't remember exactly). However, after he left we did a little research, and according to most bios, Condi's parents are dead and she has no brothers or sisters! So maybe he is a half-brother? In any case, if he really is a relative, we apologize for doubting him, and if he's not a relation, we have to wonder what his motivation was for telling us that. He sounded sincerely ashamed of her views when he talked about her. So if he really was related why tell us? Did he just want some attention. The world may never know. If you know anything about this, please contact us, as we find it to be an interesting event in our always interesting store, and we're just curious!

Evening Magazine comes to visit!
Exciting news! Evening Magazine from King 5 came to the store to film a story about our store today. Look for this piece to air on Monday. The spent some time filming items in the store and talking to the Head Cheese. It was funny because a King 5 film crew had filmed the outside of the store yesterday - they were in the area and saw the guy washing our windows in front of a Obama poster, and decided to interview him. They didn't come in, but they did film a bunch of our windows. Whatever the case we're looking forward to the piece on Evening Magazine. Many thanks to them for coming in!
